Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If I reside in Anne Arundel County but attend a school in another county, can I apply for one of your scholarships?
A: No.

Q: If I attend school in Anne Arundel County but reside in another county, can I apply for one of your scholarships?
A: No

Q: Am I eligible to apply if I am home-schooled?
A: Yes, if you are registered with the Anne Arundel County Board of Education home-school program.

Q: Can I submit my application before my counselor attaches my transcript and my letter of recommendation is attached?
A: Yes. Their deadline is later than the student’s deadline to allow them time to submit your requested item. If your application is not submitted prior to the student deadline, it will not be considered for a scholarship.

Q: My teacher said she did not receive the request for a letter of recommendation. What should I do?
A: If it’s before the student deadline, you can go back into your application and resend the request. If it is after the student deadline, please contact us and we will forward another request to your teacher.

Q: When will I know if I’ve been selected for a scholarship?
A: An email will be sent to all the applicants the beginning of April.

Q: Will the money be sent directly to the college?
A: Yes. A check will be mailed to your college the beginning of July.

Q:  When I complete my application and click “SUBMIT”, I get a message telling me my application is “INCOMPLETE”.  Why?
A: That is because the requests have not yet been received.  As long as the status of your application is “Pending”, no further action is required unless we contact you.  When the requests have been received, your application will automatically change from “Pending” to “Submitted”.
